Dates
Description
The date of the interview is measured in five ways. First, ideally sources include the actual date. Second, if the date is included for the majority of respondents but missing for some respondents, then we use a modal estimate. Third, if there is no clear mode in the actual dates we take the median of the survey period. Fourth, we investigate all documentation and data to make the best assumption based on all available information. Fifth, we use the date that surveys were returned and dated. Data quality variables for the interview day, month, and year record the type of measurement used for each respective date element.
Harmonized Variables
id_331 | Interview Day
Harmonized day variable combines values by supplementing the actual day first with modal estimates, then median estimates, when survey forms are returned, and finally with assumptions based on available information. Two-digit values ranging from 1 to 31
id_331data | Interview Day Data Quality
Indicates the version of day variable used for data quality purposes. 1 = actual, 2 = questionnaire returned, 3 = modal estimate, 4 = median estimate, 5 = assumption
id_312 | Interview Month
Harmonized month variable combines values by supplementing the actual month first with modal estimates, then median estimates, when survey forms are returned, and finally with assumptions based on available information. Two-digit values ranging from 1 to 12
id_312data | Interview Month Data Quality
Indicates the version of month variable used for data quality purposes. 1 = actual, 2 = questionnaire returned, 3 = modal estimate, 4 = median estimate, 5 = assumption
id_300 | Interview Year
Harmonized year variable combines values by supplementing the actual year first with modal estimates, then median estimates, when survey forms are returned, and finally with assumptions based on available information. Four-digit year values.
id_300data | Interview Year Data Quality
Indicates the version of year variable used for data quality purposes. 1 = actual, 2 = questionnaire returned, 3 = modal estimate, 4 = median estimate, 5 = assumption
